August 2023 Prayer Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
I am thanking the Lord for each of you and for the way you love and support the work in Uganda. Earlier this month, I asked you to consider supporting Kirabo, our discipleship leader, with his tuition for school, and support a baptism at one of our facilities. Y’all are amazing!!! Within three days, both projects were completely funded! I can’t thank you enough. Kirabo’s birthday was extra special knowing he gets to go back to school! The baptism will be held in September so I will send pictures of that next month.
As many of you know, I have a (unofficially adopted) daughter in Uganda named Harriet. She came into my life six years ago when she was my translator in one of the facilities. One day I’ll share the whole story, but while she was in the facility, she gave her life to Christ. She is such an incredible young woman and continues to grow in the Lord. At the beginning of August she called one night and said, “Mom! I know what I want to do for my birthday. I want to go to __ (the facility where we met) and take chapatis (a special bread like a tortilla) to all the kids!” She was so excited so we made plans. Last Friday we went to the facility and she boldly shared her story with the kids in the facility. She encouraged them to never lose hope, and know that the Lord has not forgotten them - in fact He has a plan for their lives. She went on to tell them to take every advantage they have while in the facility to learn about the Lord, learn English, take the tailoring class, and learn to read. My heart rejoiced as I watched the kids listen so intently as Harriet shared her story. What a beautiful story of redemption!
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
Love,
Ava
